So, we decided against going to bed early last night...instead, we paid a little visit to the local Braum's Ice Cream Palor AND the local Sonic...Then, we decided to play a friendly game of cards...
Well, I don't know if you would call it friendly, but... Haha, just kidding! We did, however, have a little friend join us...His name was Sean...
It was basically a walking stick of sugar...
Sadly, he favored the boys; but, he did manage to give us a feel good laughs before his momma took him home. When I asked him where he was from...he said "My momma..." Then he proceed to tell us that he has to "poop;" but when I asked him if he needed to go to bathroom, he said no...Boys are weird. Anyway, he had a good ole time playing cards with us, and Matt even had himself a nice little companion. I, personally, think he will be a great photographer one day, don't you think?!? (Matt mayor may not agree...haha!)
Today, each small group made their forecasts and presented them to the group. Our consenus is that we will be along the Colorado/Kansas border for tomorrow, along the Oklahoma/Kansas border on Wednesday, and along the Nebraska/Kansas border on Thursday. Although we are getting closer to chase time, we are still uncertain on a specfic location where there is the "best" chasing environment. This is because the models are showing the dry line moving in at different times, as well as the insufficient amount of moisture in the atmosphere. For those viewers who do not know much about thunderstorms, there are four key ingredients: uplift, instability, moisture, and shear. Where we have all of these ingredients is the "best" place for chasing; however, tomorrow's set up is split. Most locations lack one of the four or more. Therefore, we are staying in a centralized location, which allows us to travel to different locations best on how things play out tomorrow. For now, we are expected to be in a triangular region between Tribune, Liberal, and Scott City, Kansas. However, if we wake up tomorrow to major differences in the models, we might be traveling back south to Amarillo, TX. I will keep you updated on our location and time as I know more.
After we had our briefing, we departed our hotel in search of the Land of Oz... And, guess what?!? We found it! Check out the pictures below...
Then, Dr. Brown wanted to steal a kiss...
Somehow, Jessica ran into a little problem...But, I saved her...
With all the rescuing, I started to get thirsty...
Bad idea because then the lion decided to eat me too...
AND Brittany..
Uh ooo, Amber! Bad idea...
I think Megan finally scared him away...
....Wow...I think we have too much time on our hands...We need some storms to form so that we can put our energy to good use...JS
Anyway, we continued our path down the yellow brick road, and we found more productive things to do...Check them out....
We found swings...
And Munchkins...
And more Munchkins...
Once we finally left the Land of Oz, we made our way north to Garden City, KS, where spent two hours in Target, got Starbukcs (finally), ate dinner at Ihop, and then had our night briefing.
As for tomorrow...we will brief at 10a.m., and we will hopefully know more...Tomorrow through Thursday should be pretty interesting to see! So, get excited and say a few prayers for us and all those who live in the Northern/Central Plains! Stay tuned for more updates from the MSU Storm Chasers!
INSIDE JOKE: "Do you want to go to Walmart?," all of Sean's sayings, and not to mention, itt smells wonderful here...NOT!
